Reality: Real and Fictional
Each infantryman was issued a cleverly designed mess kit that combined all the essential containers and implements in one package. In fact, it became its own package, the pan mating with the plate, like the two halves of a clamshell, and the handle of the pan rotating to hold the two together. One component of this kit was a cup with a folding handle.
Herb ’n’ Lorna, Chapter 6
Photographs of a U.S. Army mess kit from World War I, held by UNT Special Collections. All of the utensils are made of a shiny metal, including a pan with a lid, a fork, a spoon and a knife.
Note that there is no cup with a folding handle included in the mess kit. MD
Reality is the beginning not the end.
From the ruins and the dissolution of real reality something very different will emerge, not a copy but an answer: fictional reality.
