NOTE: For the items I’ve labeled with “original author unknown,” I tried consulting Kraft’s copy of American Slogans by William Sunners, but there is no digital version of this essential resource, so I abandoned the effort after a few hours. BTW: Kraft has asked me to acknowledge that his copy of American Slogans was a gift from Elizabeth West.
